
Following the huge controversy surrounding stories of employers forcing potential employees to surrender their Facebook login info for prescreening, Facebook’s chief privacy officer Erin Egan has urged the social network’s user base to never give out their passwords to employers. It is both illegal and unethical, and according to Facebook, it “exposes the employer who seeks this access to unanticipated legal liability.” The US Senate is currently working on legislation to combat this issue, but has yet to pass a law banning it.
